To accelerate smart ideas, products and services to improve health outcomes.

We provide DHB innovators with advice on product and service ideas to bring them to reality. We identify and develop innovations and ideas for the benefit of the New Zealand health system.

The New Zealand Health Innovation Hub is owned by Canterbury DHB, has its own board and management structure.

We also receive  support from the Ministry of Business Innovation and Employment as a pooling member with KiwiNet, and from the Ministry of Health. NZHIH  is accessible to all DHBs for commercialisation services support and as a vehicle for holding equity in ventures on behalf of DHBs.

Q. What sort of Ideas are we looking for?

We are looking for ideas that can be widely adopted because they:

  • make a material difference to people’s health, here and in other countries;
  • make clinicians’ jobs easier and more effective, so clinicians will want to adopt them; and
  • reduce the cost of care, so public and private funders will want to fund them.
