We can help you get where you want to go, faster.
We are here to commercialise New Zealand’s public health sector intellectual property, innovations, and initiatives with strategic partners for better health outcomes.
We provide innovative health professionals with advice on product design, market validation and health innovation funding options.
We are a pooling member in the KiwiNet PreSeed Accelerator Fund programme (PSAF) which co-funds eligible projects through to investor readiness. Strict criteria apply but that can be discussed with one of our team.
NZHIH has the ability to co-fund eligible projects alongside DHBs and also works with other agencies like Callaghan Innovation and NZTE.
Does the idea belong to you?
Will it offer health benefits?
Does it have commercial potential?
We’ll meet, provide advice and discuss possibilities. We’ll prepare initial analysis, usually including freedom to operate, review results and discuss appropriate pathways with you.
Depending on the innovation and your goals, we may aim to form a venture with you around the idea; or perhaps we’ll work with you to license a technology to an established company. No matter the pathway, the ultimate benefits will be shared fairly and equitably.
Through the KiwiNet PSAF programme and NZHIH funds can be accessed for such expenses as researcher’s salaried time, related research consumable and R&D costs, prototype development, market research, IP strategy development and commercialisation partner engagement.
